![]() We both were in grand spirits, that is until breakfast was served. It was a great time for quiet recollection of our first week, and minor adjustments to our plans for the second. Obviously, when a place is jammed beyond capacity by an appreciative crowd, all ordering at once as fast as a server could get to them, there is going to be a wait. We were promptly served with transfusions of fragrant piping coffee, and left to study the menu. It is just as well that the pastor’s homily was short and sweet, because another ten minutes would have left us at the end of a lengthening line, apparently all fellow church-goers. The café, as neat as a pin, and smelling like the king’s own bakery, was just opening and we were seated among the first patrons that morning. Here we were in short sleeves and light slacks enjoying a delicious breakfast of sage laced biscuits with a superb sausage gravy out of doors on a 77 degree Sunday morning. Mrs Too and I were finally getting over the memory just one week ago, of being all bundled up against the 22 degree morning and backing her car out of the snow covered driveway. However, there is plenty of seating available outside for those waiting. Note that this restaurant is distinctly dog-friendly for outside eating, not only providing water dishes for accompanying pets but often also offering pet treats to waiting pooches (with owner permission.) One caution: Especially on week-ends during peak season, waiting time can be up to 20 – 30 minutes. Outside seating accomodates an additional 30 – 40. There is seating for a guesstimated 70 patrons, a mixture of booths, tables and counter stool seating. This not a place to go for fancy ambience. The cafe inside is clean but downright basic. ![]() It can be easy to miss, but look for the prominent Anna Maria Oyster House which is located in the same square. Sage Biscuit Cafe is located in a small strip mall/square named Cortez Village Square. One gets the sense that the servers genuinely want to know how the customer is enjoying the experience. Service is always cheerful, friendly and attentive. a Sake Bloody Mary which turned out to be both interesting and enjoyable. Beer and wine selection is quite limited, but drink selection for lunch/brunch includes a couple of creative touches including “wine based vodka” Bloody Mary and Sunset Cocktail. ![]() We have tried a couple of those and greatly enjoyed them. The menu includes a goodly number of vegetarian offerings for those so inclined. So far we have not had a single culinary disappointment. and also to date a somewhat smaller selection of the very wide variety of lunch offerings. But whenever we are anywhere near the neighborhood (or make an excuse to detour nearby) during breakfast or lunch time, then we drop by and are trying to work our way through as much of the menu as is feasible, including Huevos Rancheros, multiple Eggs Benedictine and breakfast skillet variations, stuffed French toast creations, omelets, etc. To our regret we do not live near Sage Biscuit. The complete menu can be perused by clicking on TripAdvisor's website icon next to the address. Sage Biscuit Cafe offers an extensive menu of creative breakfast and lunch offerings.
